Residential Home Construction
Meco Engineering has been intrinsically involved with the construction of several unique, up-market homes in suburban New Plymouth. Many of them are Award Winning Design and Build projects showcasing the expertise of all trades.
As the structural steel providers, we worked closely with other sub-contractors to meet the needs for the extra-ordinary, dynamically shaped buildings.
We supplied and fitted all the metal work, including a variety of stainless steel canopies, hand-rails, balustrades, fittings and front entrance stairways.
New home owners are often seeking the extreme and unusual in architecture and Meco is pleased to have put our mark on such properties.
Liardet Apartment Building
This project in New Plymouth was a challenging logistics exercise, requiring the erection of 20 tonnes of steel onto the building’s roof in the city centre.
Two additional floors were added to an existing five-level building, as part of a conversion from a rest home to executive lifestyle apartments.
A specialist approach was needed for the project which involved limited access, being surrounded by footpaths and roads. We procured a small-based crane with the required overhead capacity and worked closely with the local council and regulatory authorities to facilitate the work.
With forward planning, we obtained permits for water and sewerage, telecommunications, power, paving, public access, road closures and cranes. The project was completed on time, to client specifications, and with no disruptions or safety issues.
