Port Taranaki - Project Greenhouse
Taranaki's first specifically designed "green" building - a fully fledged environmentally friendly concept encorporating a three storied office block for Port Taranaki who chose to "lead by example". The sustainable design trend aims to reduce water and energy on the completed project as well as recycle much of the demolished material from the original site prior to construction.
Although much of the structure is pre-cast concrete, Meco were contracted to fabricate and supply the main structural steelwork.
Having crane capabilities, plus hiab truck and trailer unit meant much of the delivery and installation could be carried out by Meco Engineers independently of other contractors.
Ryman Health - Jean Sandel Retirement Village
The Jean Sandel complex will provide a full range of retirement living options for the elderly and is currently under development in Whalers Gate, New Plymouth.
Supervised by one of Meco's fully qualified and experienced site foreman, the Ryman development is progressing well due to the excellent liaison with the Ryman project manager. Again, Meco equipment including scissor lifts and hiab have been well utilised with the construction.
Metalwork currently in progress includes handrailing for four stairwells and the possibility of other external areas with health and safety requirements.
